For chronic pain and growth and development compromise.
Did you know that the tongue, lips and cheeks, if compromised in movement and posture, can negatively impact on nursing/ feeding, speech, growth and development and chronic tension and pain? At James Street Dentists, we offer Osteopathically-Guided-Functional-Frenectomy by our experienced dentist Dr Sylvia Lee, who continuously upskills with the current knowledge and techniques used by international pioneers at the forefront of the industry. We are proud providers of the LightScalpel CO2 laser, that uses light energy to remove unwanted excess tissue without burning the tissue (and therefore the need for water spraying around the release site). There is also minimal bleeding which increases the safety profile of the procedure as the field of view is clear to the operator, who can remove the unwanted tissue precisely and conservatively.
Not all tongue ties need releasing and we believe in the power of interdisciplinary practice to gain the best results for our patients. This is why we work in partnership with exceptional allied health professionals in orofacial myofunctional therapy and manual therapy to guide our patients with the best patient-centric approach to managing restrictive ties, and we will facilitate this process.
